Membership Terms and Conditions

This plain-language undertaking explains what it means to apply for membership in Espesyal Pinoy (Singapore). It is based on the Society's Constitution and complements, but does not replace, that governing document.

Our purpose

Espesyal Pinoy supports and empowers Filipino families of persons with disabilities in Singapore. The Society advocates awareness of their needs and rights, connects families with peers and professionals, offers educational and family activities, and may conduct properly authorised fundraising for people with special needs.

Who may apply

Membership is open to Filipinos with special needs and their families, as well as medical practitioners, therapists and other professionals who work with children with special needs and reside in Singapore. Submitting this form is an application; membership is not automatic and remains subject to the Committee's approval under the Constitution.

Your undertaking

By applying, you agree to:

  • provide accurate, current information and promptly correct material changes;
  • treat members, families, volunteers and professionals with dignity and respect;
  • protect confidential or sensitive family information shared within the community;
  • follow the Constitution, lawful Society rules and reasonable Committee directions;
  • use Society activities and channels only for their intended community purposes; and
  • avoid unauthorised fundraising, gambling, illegal activity, and political or trade-union activity in the Society's name.

Participation and governance

Approved members may participate in Society activities and receive member communications. Voting and office-holding rights apply only to members over 21 and remain governed by the Constitution. Membership fees may be determined by a General Meeting.

A safe community

Some members may share personal experiences involving disability, health or family circumstances. Acceptance of this undertaking does not authorise you to publish, forward or otherwise disclose another person's information. Ask permission before sharing a member's story, image or contact details.
